Switch from Internet Explorer to help secure your PC
According to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) switching from Internet Explorer to an alternative web browser is recommended .

While Internet Explorer cannot be removed from your PC, browsing the web with an alternative browser can add some security while browsing the Internet.

Fighting Spyware

Spyware and Adware collect information about you and your browsing habits and sends them to someone who will benfit by installing software on your computer.
It is estimated that more than 90% of all computers that have an internet connection have Malware loaded on them.
You have probably noticed that you computer is running slowly as of late.
If this is the case then you may have something called Spyware and Adware.
Together called Malware. Once you get this it is very hard to get rid of it.
Depending on how badly you are infected you may want to think of backing up all your data (which you should do anyway)
and reinstall your Operating System. After reinstalling your Operating System using a
combination of multiple applications you can protect your computer from future infections.
I use Spybot Search and Destroy with Spywareblaster along with Firefox as a web browser.
Also you want to have an Antivirus program. I recommend Norton from Symantec Remember to update these applications weekly.
I also recommend getting a router with a built in firewall to prevent access to your computer.
But be careful when installing them. Most routers have Wireless built in.
Most people who install their own routers forget to set up security.
